La Justice de Saint Louis.   Chroniques de Joinville.
Huile sur panneau. oil on bord.  28 x 46 cm 11 x 18 in

The picture of the King Saint Louis administering justice under the celebrated Vincennes oak Tree made a fortune in History. But within the reality of its time, it symbolizes the victory of royal justice on manorial justice. In the above work that was commissioned by the town of Paris in 1937,suing villagers present their grievances to the King standing under an oak tree in the forest of Vincennes. In this gathering, may be seen some villagers of the time, a monk who might be St Bonaventure, Jean, Sire de Joinville, Sénéchal de Champagne who took part in the 7th Crusade with the King. On the background, stands the first manor built in Vincennes by Philippe Auguste.

 Le Général Daumesnil à Vincennes      Gouache. 28 x 46 cm    11 x 18 in
In march 1814, allied forces invest and occupy Paris. The French Empire falls to pieces. General Daumesnil who has been badly wounded in Wagram, entertains a coalition delegation in the Château, as a governor of Vincennes and refuses to surrender without an order of NAPOLEON. He answers  " I shall surrrrender Vincennes when they shall give me back my leg " that he points with his index. Daumesnil is surrounded  by his guard. The suspense is eloquent under Delormoz"s pencils and brushes.

François 1er fait terminer la Sainte Chapelle de Vincennes et reçoit Charles Quint.
Gouache. 28 x 37 cm  11 x 15 in
This work represents the King François I who orders the holy Chapel in Vincennes to be finished and welcomes Charles Quint. This is the great diplomatic gathering of the time outside the holy Chapel that the King has decided to get finished. The magnificent Apocalypse stained glass windows shall be realized only under Henri II. We are in January 1540. At this occasion, the King takes the opportunity to  entertain Charles Quint, his fearce ennemy. Diplomatic stratagem, possible alliance treaty, intimidation, who knows? The conversation is getting on. Gestures and words are expressed in their full authenticity under the artist's brush.
